Evgenia Arbugaeva est une photographe russe, originaire du nord de la république de Sakha (je vous laisse chercher sur une carte), une région située bien au-delà du cercle polaire arctique.
Ses sujets photographiques sont donc évidemment très inspirés par ces zones froides et son dernier projet en date, « Weather man », raconte la vie décalée de Slava Korotkiy, météorologue sur une minuscule péninsule de la mer de Barents depuis treize ans.
Cet ermite, « exilé volontaire », vit dans un monde figé au début du 20è siècle, et relève méthodiquement chaque jour température, pression atmosphérique, hygrométrie et autres données, qu’il transmet en morse à un central météorologique.
Une série photographique d’un autre temps et d’un autre monde, fascinante !

Evgenia Arbugaeva is a russian photographer, born in northern Sakha Republic (check on a map…), far beyond the arctic polar circle.
Of course, her photography subjects are deeply inspired by these cold areas and her last work, « Weather man », tells about the ascetic life of Slava Korotky, working as a meteorologist on a tiny peninula of the Barents sea.
This « voluntary outcast » has been living for 13 years in a world frozen in ice and in time, and daily monitoring temperature, atmospheric pressure, humidity and other data he transmits to a weather central, using morse code.
